HOME                                                                         Short biography of Peter Wälti      [für Deutsch]

My name is Peter Wälti (1943). The native country of my first pre-father named Wälti is located in Rüderswil in the Emmental. I grew up at Lake Brienz in the village of Niederried near Interlaken. The cradle of my hobby, the genealogy, stood in the screed of the house of my youth in form of a carton box with old sales contracts and the love letters of my grand-mother Bertha Amacher-Studer * 1878.

I live with my family in Münsingen since 1979, between Thun and Berne. Since 1981, I am a member of the SGFF (Swiss society for genealogy) and the GHGB (genealogical and heraldic society of Berne).

The genealogy belongs to my most central occupations. Concerning the past of the canton of Berne, I am also interested in archaeology, place science of names, histories of villages, the story of the Anabaptists, population story and so on.
